Bosnia-Herzegovina

– 2015, 2017 –

We are entering the beautiful Bosnia-Herzgeovina with
a backpack, a tripod and a camera.
More than 20 years after the end of the Bosnia War (1992-1995), the consequences of the war are still omnipresent.

Our first stop is Mostar, a city which was divided by
one of the major frontlines from 1992-1994.

Sarajevo

On the first photograph you can see the bobsleigh and luge track
of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.
During the siege of Sarajevo (1992-1996) the track
was used as a military position.

Potočari-Srebrenica

On the following images you’ll see the abandoned former headquarters
of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Potočari, close to
Srebrenica, site of the 1995 genocide of more than 8,000 Muslim
Bosniaks, mainly men and boys.

The last picture shows the Srebrenica-Potočari Cemetery
for the victims of the 1995 genocide. There are still mortal
remains to be identified through DNA analysis –
and to be buried with dignity afterwards.

None of the portfolios is comprehensive and final. They do not necessarily represent a city, a region or a country as a whole.
